How To Painlessly Change A Flat Tire
50
Getting a flat tire can be a scary thing. However, if you know what to do, not only will you keep your friends and family safe, you can potentially impress hotties too!
Okay, so onward to the nitty gritty.
Step one: Locate your spare tire and jack.
These come standard in most (if not all) cars, and will usually be in an easy to find place. The trunk of your car is usually where they’re located, but all cars are different.
When in doubt, check your owner’s manual!
Step two: Loosen your bolts, and remove your hubcap.
This is pretty self explanatory. You’re going to want to do this before you jack up the car, because these bolts are really tight.
Step three: Put your car on a jack.
There will be a space just under your car that is meant for your jack to fit into. Just put your jack under here, and crank away. This will require a bit of muscle, but it shouldn’t be too difficult.
Step four: Change your tire!
Now that your car is up off the ground, you can finally change your tire! Take the bolts off (the ones you loosened earlier), and try not to lose them. Now, remove your flat tire, and replace it with your spare. Put the bolts back on and make them, as my dad would say, “finger tight” (as tight as you can get them while using just your fingers).
Step five: Take your car off the jack, and tighten the bolts.
Wait until you’ve removed your car from the jack to really tighten the bolts. Like I mentioned before, if you apply too much pressure while your car is on the jack, it may slip (and believe me, no one wants to deal with that). Anyways, once your car is safely on the ground you can really crank those bolts down. You'll want to tighten the bolts on opposite sides so as not to make the tire crooked.
Step six: You’re all done!
Remember: spare tires aren’t meant for you to spend all your time on them, so don’t plan on going too far. Now you can drive to see your best friend, who just happens to sell tires, and see if he’ll score you a sweet deal. Just drive slowly, and head straight there.
Pleasant driving!
